Carved Cross - Untitled

Carved Cross - Untitled

3 tape boxset from Carved Cross. I'll try to not repeat myself since I've already posted a handful of Carved Cross's stuff, but this is a very solid release that falls into place with their other stuff - extremely raw with very hidden melodies. This clocks in at around 45 or 50 minutes so it's a lot of material. It's also sold out from the Australian label Overuse but be sure to follow and support his future releases since this is a great first release.

Various Artists - Blood Lust

Various Artists - Blood Lust

Compilation from Denver based label Blackout Rage featuring live sets from Civilized, Need, Culture Shock, Suburbanite, and Cadaver Dog. Not the best sound quality but it does every band justice. I like all the bands on this compilation, every band's set on here is great, and we even get to hear a new Suburbanite song. The packaging is well put together and the artwork looks great. What more could you ask for? This release does a great job at documenting these bands, full support for Blackout Rage.

Liebestod - s/t

Liebestod - s/t
self released

Industrial power electronics from Hoax's frontman. This surprised me for being good from a blind buy from Youth Attack. The music is fierce and the samples are scary. Recommended for PE fans. He's currently on tour with Puce Mary around the east coast, hopefully I can catch that show in Providence.

Cremation Lily - Fluids Of October

Cremation Lily - Fluids Of October

I can't believe this is the first time I have posted about Cremation Lily. I have bought almost everything he has released up until recently, and Fires Frame The Silhouette is one of my favorite albums to come out this year (even though it isn't entirely new stuff). But anyways, this is very different from the usual material you've heard from Cremation Lily. This is actually the whole synth pop, ambient, "bubblegum industrial" thing Croatian Amor has going, which I really like. There are basically 2 melodies on this tape and some sound collage and noise work, essentially VERY similar to Croatian Amor. I keep saying Croatian Amor. Pick this up if you like Croatian Amor.

Dry Insides - Crawl Back

Dry Insides - Crawl Back

One man black metal band by means of Cali. Reuben Sawyer does a lot of design work for Acsetic House and is affiliated with Window, Florida Man, and Hallow Sunshine, etc. He's also really good at making emblems, fun fact. Anyways, this has the almost blackened punk Bone Awl sound but not quite. Fallow Field would do you no wrong, neither would I. Very promising, hopefully we hear some more new material shortly.

Already Dead - Self Decay

Already Dead - Self Decay
self released

The 3rd installment of the Youth Attack distributed extremely raw release from this mysterious band. This one is an intro, an original song, and a cover. The progress is nice but I can't help but feel this is more garage rock than the other releases. Not that I didn't hear it before or that that's a bad thing, but this is a further step in that direction. As usual great artwork on this, I wish these guys would release more than 8 minutes of music at a time though (this one doesn't break the 6 minute mark).

Ride At Dawn - No Road Home

Ride At Dawn - No Road Home

Fuck yes, new Ride At Dawn. Raw mid tempo black metal/hardcore by means of Toronto. Apparently this is their final release, RIP. Probably my favorite tape from the Fallow Field batch.

Window - Salvation

Window - Salvation

Very intense industrial power electronics release on the mighty Fallow Field. I don't know a lot about this but it's loosely affiliated with the Ascetic House crew. This is right up my alley though, I really like the whole industrial synth sound and this nails it. It's packaged in one of those single hollow cases that a bunch of Satan's Din stuff was in so you can enjoy collapsing the case at some point. I picked this up from Youth Attack but it'll be available to purchase soon from Fallow Field

V. Sinclair - Memoirs Of A Twin

V. Sinclair - Memoirs Of A Twin

Unseen Force has been a fairly active label for over a year now and I have a handful of their stuff but somehow never got around to posting it. I felt this was important enough to post though - a 2xCS release from V. Sinclair who has done stuff on Prime Ruin and Strange Rules. There are a couple of harsh points to this release but it also has a lot of dark ambient and "synth" type aspects to the tracks (I don't know what you'd call it, I can't think of the word at the moment but it isn't synthpop). Unseen Force runs a pretty deep distro so be sure to pick up some stuff, I actually just ordered some stuff today!

Mania - Decrepit

Mania - Decrepit

Awesome new release from one of the greats on the mighty Freak Animal. Keith is known for his works as Taint, Mania, and also running Bitewerks. This release sounds like metal being destroyed to brutal vocals. Anything from Freak Animal and Mania should be an instant buy/download for everyone reading this, no further explanation required.

Owl's Blood - Cold Night Of Meditation

Owl's Blood - Cold Night Of Meditation

Both of these labels almost make me wish I lived in the EU so I didn't have to pay so much for all their releases. Both are labels that I feel are releasing some of the most important upfront black metal, and this release is no different. Owl's Blood hails from Spain and play a straight forward raw black metal sound, akin to Sargeist but a little more raw. If you like black metal you'll like this.

Geography Of Hell - Beijing 1989 / Nyamata 1994

Geography Of Hell - Nyamata 1994 / Beijing 1989

Hospital Productions still puts out great power electronics. As much as you'd like to talk shit on them for their recent tactics, everything this label does is quality and this is no different. 2 new "show only" tapes from Geography Of Hell as throwbacks to these important world events. Beijing 1989 is a little more sound collage-y, has more sound clips, lots of low end. Nyamata 1994 is a lot more harsh and noisy. Both compliment each other great, highly recommended.

Various Artists - Libertine Satanic Economy

Various Artists - Libertine Satanic Economy

The second of recent show-only compilations from Hospital Productions. This one features new Alberich, Geography Of Hell, Forcible Confinement (who was on the White Eye Of Winter Watching comp), and Rape Warrior (new artist?). Everything is top notch. A bit of a new direction for Alberich, definitely the least harsh and noisy track on here. Rumors say that a new album is due soon. You can't go wrong with almost 2 hours of new PE from Hospital Productions, I'm glad Dominick hasn't completely abandoned or moved on with what his label was best at before.

Deterge - Gestation

Deterge - Gestation

I was digging around in my collection over the weekend and found this. 3xCS, a box with a razor blade taped to it, a page ripped out of what seems like a medical textbook, a pregnancy test (thank you!), and classic Fusty Cunt collage work. As far as the music it takes you through mostly what I would describe as harsh noise cut up, but there is a lot of variance on this 90 minute release. Regardless, this is a very brutal release, start to finish. I won't butcher the artistic meaning behind this release but at face value it takes you through each of the stages of pregnancy. Very educational release.

Reverorum Ib Malacht - De Mysteriis Dom Christi

Reverorum Ib Malacht - De Mysteriis Dom Christi

Reverorum Ib Malacht just released a new album on vinyl, CD, and cassette and apparently there is completely different music on each format. I was so stoked to order the vinyl that I didn't really pay attention to cassette and CD so the vinyl rip is all you get from me. I'm not even sure what'd you'd call this but it's evil. Black metal mixed with ambient. Some parts of this really do it for me. Word on the street is that the cassette version is the better of the 3, and the CD sounds more digitized with effects and stuff like that. I'm eager to hear those.

NASA Space Universe - EGM

NASA Space Universe - EGM

If you like hardcore you should hear this. I posted their last EP and this is just as good as that (which I really enjoyed btw, this is no different). This is fast and sort of sounds like Die Kreuzen wearing aluminium foil hats. I'm not sure if this was ever available outside seeing them on their last tour they made it out East a few months ago.

Circle Of Ouroborus - Kuuhun Kahlittu

Circle Of Ouroborus - Kuuhun Kahlittu

By now you should know how much of a huge fan I am of Circle Of Ouroborus. This is the new LP which is now very hard to find and "limited to an undisclosed number of copies." If I had to guess this was recorded around the same time as their split with Cosmic Church, but this sounds a lot cleaner. So it's more metal than other stuff I've posted by them. I don't even have to tell you how much I like this and how mandatory it is.

S.T.A.B. Electronics - Instrument For Operating On Mutant Women

S.T.A.B. Electronics - Instrument For Operating On Mutant Women

Violent power electronics from the UK. Urashima has been "killing it" in 2014 and this is no different. You can definitely hear the influences of Con-Dom, Whitehouse, Ramleh, etc. This is very much so one of the better PE releases this year.

Luminous Shadow - Demo I

Luminous Shadow - Demo I

Extremely noisy black metal by the sublabel of Down & Out. 10 minutes of relentless HNW-esque black metal with no drums which doesn't let down - the waveform is literally a block. Very interesting release, highly recommended.

Ritual Howls - s/t

Ritual Howls - s/t

I didn't see this one getting the attention it deserves and couldn't really find it anywhere. Some of Nostilevo's stuff doesn't get the hype it deserves, including this and that Blue Krishna release I posted earlier this year. Anyways, this is noisy post stuff by means of Detroit, around a year old. The first track really does it for me.

Carved Cross - Demo III

Carved Cross - Demo III

I think this is my favorite Carved Cross release thus far, even more so than the full length I posted on here earlier this year. I finally think they've molded a sound that fits them perfectly. The recording quality and sloppiness is something that comes with the aesthetic and it works. You should download this and the full length that I posted earlier this year if you like extremely raw music.

Some Ember - Walls Disappear

Some Ember - Walls Disappear

I don't really know too much about this release other than it's acid and it's pretty bangin. Another tape from the January Program that I felt was worthy of sharing.

Anxiety Hammer - Demo

Anxiety Hammer - Demo

You've probably heard about this demo. It's probably somewhere else on the internet already but I couldn't find it so here you go, granted I don't really know of many other music blogs. Some 80s hardcore worship from some dudes who used to be in Society Nurse and Salvation. Sounds very promising.

Sparklebomb - Funeral Beats

Sparklebomb - Funeral Beats

Sad pop music from synth queen, vine goddess, and friend of mine Sparklebomb. Very lo-fi sounding synth pop with some hints of noise. I think the title is very fitting. Check out the new label Prime Ruin for some other upstate NY choice flavors.

Graveyard Wanderers - Night Shifting

Graveyard Wanderers - Night Shifting

The description of this release that was given at the time was "J Wood + G Moore" so obviously I bought it. It fits with the aesthetic of dark techno that Ascetic House really liked to put out with their January Program. Of course when you put this next to amazing stuff like Helm it will look bleak in comparison, it's still far from "bad" though.

Puce Mary - The Viewer

Puce Mary - The Viewer

I'm surprised this hasn't popped up yet since this is a very solid release from the January Program that Ascetic House did. Very low end heavy noise/industrial from Copenhagen based and Posh Isolation affiliated Puce Mary. Like I said, this is one of the heavy hitters from the 31 tapes that Ascetic House put out in January.

Pleasure Island - Patriot Games

Pleasure Island - Patriot Games

Tom Clancy influenced power electronics. This is different from the stuff I posted last year of Pleasure Island - this is a lot more PE influenced and reminds me of the LR and FFH records that came out last year. Every song teases and makes you wish this was a longer release (not a con). Very highly recommended, still available from the label.

Constrain - Default Trade

Constrain - Default Trade

Harsh cut up noise from a great newish label. At some points it is so cut up it sounds a little like breakcore, but this is still a very much so harsh noise release. This boxset sold out from the label fairly quickly so I'm not sure where you can get a copy. I strongly suggest checking out other titles from Compulsion Rites and Constrain if this is up your alley.

Marshstepper - Give Yourself To The Moon

Marshstepper - Give Yourself To The Moon

I was hoping to post a few of the tapes I got a few weeks ago from the January Program but I tried ripping one and got discouraged at how bad it was dubbed so I haven't really tried to listen to any since then. That and I've been out of the country and otherwise busy.

This is a great release and sounds great too (a handful of the tapes I got from these guys were dubbed incorrectly). For a band that has hyped live performances and only a few releases this release does them justice. It teeters on the edge of noise and industrial. One of my favorite tapes from the January Program, even though I got around 13 of them and only a few of them have rips floating around.

Vomir - Untitled

Vomir - Untitled

HNW from the leader. A solid hour of it. This photo describes this release and Vomir the best. I was going to let Mr tom4r at Metallic Imagery post this but I had to work on the balancing a little bit outside of the chain I use to normalize everything I post, so I figure why waste the 5 minutes I spent doing that. Great art, great packaging, and it came with an awesome shirt.

Arv & Miljö - Resurser

Arv & Miljö - Resurser

More from the recent Total Black package I got, Swedish noise master Matthias Andersson aka Arv & Miljö. If you enjoyed his releases on Järtecknet and Posh Isolation you will like this. Lo-fi power electronics, fairly harsh, very cold. I think this will inspire me to order his LP that came out last year Järtecknet at some point soon, so I'll post that on here if it doesn't show up before.

Order Of Nine Angels - Black Triangle Void

Order Of Nine Angels - Black Triangle Void

I accept there is no law, no authority, no justice except my own and that culling is a necessary act of life. I believe in one guide, Satan, and in our right to rule mundanes.

Recorded during the Autumnal Equinox of 2013 beneath a harvest moon, before a midnight host.

Tollund Men ‎– Dedicated To P.F. Lacenaire

Tollund Men ‎– Dedicated To P.F. Lacenaire

Honestly their best material yet. I say that with every release they do but it's true. In this case believe the hype when I say that Tollend Men one of the best current bands. This came in an oversized package with a small ziplock bag of something like ashes, I'm too scared to open it but very cool! Total Black is awesome, Tollund Men is awesome.

V/A - Ten Jin

Various Artists - Ten Jin

Compilation put together by the Japanese noise imprint Lust Vessel, this is all acts from Japan. Lust Vessel is a great label and I've enjoyed everything that I've heard that they've put out. I'm a pansy when it comes to importing stuff and don't exactly know of any distros that stock their releases so usually I will pass. I had to pick this up though, both from the quality of other Urashima releases I have, and how cheap and efficient Malignant is ran. Anyways, 6 tracks of harsh noise, all very high quality stuff. If you know Lust Vessel at all you probably already own this, and if you don't this is a great place to start.  You might be able to find this somewhere, but at a mere 99 copies this will soon be very hard to find.

Blue Krishna - Repeat Until Death

Blue Krishna - Repeat Until Death

The best description I can give of this is it sounds like the whatever wave post punk thing that is popular now but drenched with industrial. I'm not sure if that sounds enticing but I wouldn't post it if I don't like it. This has a heavy dose of tape fuzz and you can definitely hear the differences from the sources, but I think all of this compliments the release. I believe this is one of the guys from Body Of Light from LA, but honestly I have no idea. On a side note, I'm going to see Body Of Light and a bunch of other bands at that Acestic House thing in LA in like 2 weeks, I'm excited for that. Anyways, this is still available from the label.

Hidden Bones - Demo I

Hidden Bones - Demo I

Blackened punk from the same Carved Cross crew from down under. Very raw 11ish minutes of that black metal/punk thing Bone Awl does. I'm not sure where you can get this, I believe it's sold out nearly everywhere.

Calvary - Calvary

Calvary - Calvary

If you didn't think the Carved Cross was raw enough (it is) then this is for you. Like most things on the label this is shrouded with mystery - I have no idea who is in this at all. I really like this though, very raw and dark black metal. It took me a few listens to really get into this, so let it sink in. The vocals sound like their from the Masks Of Canaan release I posted from the last FF batch. Also, it sounds exactly like the singer of Circle Of Ourborus at the beginning of the 3rd track, call me crazy. This is still available from the label and really shouldn't be.

Carved Cross - Futile Reflections Of A Failed Existence

Carved Cross - Futile Reflections Of A Failed Existence

New full length from the kings of shit Carved Cross. I think it's safe to say this is a full length, clocking in at a little over 40 minutes. This is definitely their most clean sounding recording, but it still sounds raw as fuck and very very filthy, don't worry. "Clean" is definitely not the right word, but these songs still go at trudge through the mud pace. This is also their most melodic material. There could have been more melody on their previous releases but the fact that their last demos were recorded in a toilet didn't help. Not that I'm complaining! Those releases were pretty good, this is just a lot better and highlights the high points. 2014 is off to a very good start with this release.

Rose Alliance ‎– Understanding And Appreciation: International Reforms In Sex

Rose Alliance ‎– Understanding And Appreciation: International Reforms In Sex

This is a more ambient and synthy take on their last release on Posh earlier in 2013. A lot less harsh and abrasive too. Still a little noisy, more "experimental" than anything, still driving. I'm excited to hear the newest release from Rose Alliance on Ascetic House.

Cosmic Church / Circle Of Ouroborus - Split

Cosmic Church / Circle Of Ouroborus - Split

So I had a rip of this from soulseek for a little bit but I wasn't totally happy with it so I decided to put my rip up here. If you haven't noticed I only try to post things that either aren't on the internet yet or are with inferior rips. On another side note, I've started to upload the more important newer things to what.cd, if that's your thing.

Anyways, I absolutely LOVE this. You should be very familiar with both bands but I'll go on. Cosmic Church's side doesn't let up once in the 23ish minutes. I didn't think it would live up to Ylistys but it is just as awesome (Ylistys being most likely the best black metal release of 2013). Circle Of Ouroborus's side sounds a bit more metal than their recent stuff, namely Eleven Fingers/Abrahadabra/The Final Egg. It sounds more like Shores or Islands. Still amazing though, obviously. By now you should know that I'm a huge Circle Of Ourborus fan and will always love whatever they put out. Very strongly recommended, very hard to find now.

Cirrhus - s/t

Cirrhus - s/t

Starting out 2014 right with this behemoth of an LP. If you're into raw black metal chances are you know and love Cirrhus already, and if you don't, well, here you go. I know this has been in the works for a while with a rehearsal tape coming out a while ago for this, very happy to own this and on vinyl! This is sometimes melodic and punk influenced, but still very raw. I feel cheesy saying it but this is going to be one of the best black metal releases of 2014, I can't see too many other things topping this. This is still available from the label so don't miss out.

Barren Harvest

Barren Harvest - s/t
self released

I take back what I said earlier, this is the best thing I got from the last Youth Attack update. I guess I hadn't given this a proper listen but I love it. It sort of sounds like Raw Moon demo from a few years ago (might be some of the same people?), but mixed with the Bone Awl raw black metal punk-ish sound. It sounds like the name - barren, dark, desolate, etc. Very awesome sound though, hopefully this is more than just a one off thing like Raw Moon was.
