Sexdrome - On What Draw

Sexdrome - On What Draw

By now you should recognize this name after that amazing LP on Youth Attack. Unfortunately their new LP was scraped since they broke up, but luckily these 3 songs surfaced on a tape from Posh Isolation. I really like this though, they have the whole blown out punk thing down. RIP.

Column Of Heaven - Romance

Column Of Heaven - Romance

New release from Toronto based noise/power violence act Column Of Heaven. This release is a bit more on the noise/sound collage thing they've been doing lately, very similar to the 7" they just put out on Iron Lung. I'm not sure if I like it as much as the PV stuff they did on the Mission From God lp, and obviously The Endless Blockade, but it's a refreshing change of pace. Seeing these guys earlier this year in LA was awesome.

Peacebreakers - Every Day Battle

Peacebreakers - Every Day Battle

Boston hardcore rules 2013. 6 no frills rippers. Members of Boston Strangler, Waste Management, Bloodkrow Butcher, and every other band. I thought this was supposed to come out over the summer but I guess not, I picked it up last night at the Boston Strangler, Waste Management, Mercy Killings gig but they might have had these at that fest in Toronto? Regardless this is so good, definitely one of the best 7"s to come out this year. Pick this up once it becomes widely available and come to Shaun's gig on the 20th.

Already Dead - Fight To Live

Already Dead - Fight To Live
self released

Another tape from Denver, seems to be a lot of hype in that place on new projects, especially with Youth Attack. I think I posted the first tape of Already Dead's. It's like that - very lo-fi, bass heavy, disgusting sounding, but I like this better. I was pretty on the fence about this one until I had to flip the tape over to listen to the 3rd track, absolutely made the release. The tempo crawls to that bass riff, and the vocals on it are so good. The first two songs are decent enough. Very interesting release though, hopefully we hear more from this band soon.

Clementine Vulgate - Ibi Cubavit Lamia

Clementine Vulgate - Ibi Cubavit Lamia
Blutige Magie

15 minutes of dark, synthy, fuzzy, ambient music from this unknown project. It sounds like being in a cave with static from a tape. This is probably the best thing I got from Youth Attack this time around, call me a fan. Great packaging too! I don't know anything about the new label that put this out, Blutige Magie, but they have me sold. I don't think this was available anywhere else besides Youth Attack.

City Hunter - City Hunter

City Hunter - City Hunter

A quick 3 minute demo from Denver based City Hunter. Awesome packaging and not a lot of music. It's very blown out and the riffs are heavy, would mosh.

Sejr ‎– Demo

Sejr ‎– Demo
Raw black metal demo from the Posh camp, apparently with members of Iceage and Redflesh. A little punk influenced. The guitar kind of reminds me of Marching Church. Sold out from the label.

Goatmoon / Bizarre Uproar ‎– Appetite For Holocaust

Goatmoon / Bizarre Uproar ‎– Appetite For Holocaust

New split from NSBM leader Goatmoon and the fucked up noise guy Bizarre Uproar. Goatmoon has never really been my thing, Death Before Dishonor is a pretty good record but meh, you know? Pretty standard stuff on here though. Originally I ripped this at 33rpm and thought it sounded awesome. Bizarre Uproar's side is in the vein of his new album Perverse Bizarre Humiliation. Very heavy, great vocals. This is already sold out from the label, track it down in various distros.

LR – The Fragility Of Happiness

LR – The Fragility Of Happiness

I am a huge fan of this. Between the FFH LP that came out this year and this are some of the best PE/noise to come out in a while. I would also say this is LR's best work too. This isn't as fierce as the newest FFH, Make Them Understand, or as noisy as the new Bizarre Uproar, Perverse Bizarre Humiliation, both albums I strongly recommend, but it's in the middle between them. I'm done explaining but you should buy this. I think it's sold out from Posh Isolation direct but there are probably a few places stateside getting them, don't miss out.

Ordrhein ‎– Magnitude Of Ancient Fragments

Ordrhein ‎– Magnitude Of Ancient Fragments

As usual, I don't know anything about this band besides they're from the US. Final Agony put this out so it isn't going to be shit, and it's far from it. It's raw black metal done very well, I love the vocals. Order this from Final Agony, he also just pressed the Odz Manouk and Tukaaria split which is one of my favorite things to come out in recent years, and also the Absum release on Crepusculo Negro which is also awesome. Final Agony is another label that I trust and deserves full support.

Veil Of Shadow - s/t

Veil Of Shadow - s/t

Mysterious black metal on Fallow Field. Very punk influenced. All of these Fallow Field releases are very different, all very high quality. You already know how much I like this label, anything from them is an instant buy from me. The screened inserts for the tapes look great too. I can't stress enough to support an awesome label who release very forward thinking and high quality music.

Masks Of Canaan ‎– s/t

Masks Of Canaan ‎– s/t

This is probably my favorite tape from this batch. It's folk-y, black metal influenced and lo-fi. I don't even know who I can relate it to because it's very different than what I'm used to, and especially different for something to come out on Fallow Field. I'm doing a terrible job at describing this but trust me, it's really good.

Low Tax - Demo

Low Tax - Demo
self released

I believe this band is from Denver but honestly I have no idea. I bought this from Youth Attack and don't really remember the description. Anyways, they sound like every other current band on Youth Attack. Not that sounding like that is a bad thing since those bands are actually pretty good, I just couldn't pick them out of a lineup with their peers though. If you like the current roster up Youth Attack bands, this is for you.

Hair Police - Stay In Bodies

Hair Police - Stay In Bodies

Tour only release from the legendary Harbinger Sound. Very crude, something to be expected from Hair Police. Check out Hair Police's album that came out this year, Mercurial Rites, I liked it a lot.

Sutekh Hexen - Become

Sutekh Hexen - Become

Moving is literally the worst, especially when you have as much stuff as me. I also underestimated it and didn't do most of my packing until day of, obviously that's my fault. One of the movers jokingly called me a hoarder when he saw these huge boxes of tapes, but he was probably right, I own way too many tapes that I don't even care about. I need to get rid of the filler so I'll be posting a list on here eventually and possibly giving some away.

Anyways, this is a Sutekh Hexen release that came out on Auris Apothecary late last year on a reel to reel (great non-profit label who does some wild packaging, check them out). This sounds a lot like their Behind The Throne release, as it's 2 roughly 15 minute tracks that are drenched in noise. I liked that one a lot but I don't think this is as strong. Regardless, if you're a fan of their recent work this is most likely up your alley.

The Rita & Prurient - Women Pissing

The Rita & Prurient - Women Pissing

Do I even need to write anything? The Rita provides the dense noise while Prurient does the harsh vocals. This is a great representation of both of their work. I wanted to wait to post this one to give you guys time to buy this, if you haven't I strongly recommend it. Fusty Cunt is one of the best labels releasing noise these days so buy this if you can, it's only $8 ppd, you'd be crazy not to.

Bleak Existence ‎– One Step Foreward, Two Steps Back

Bleak Existence ‎– One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

WATERPOWER is a label I trust to always release high quality noise and this is no different. 40 minutes of dense electronics and noise. If you enjoyed the Vast Glory release I posted this year then this is up your alley. Limited to only 25 copies, this might be still available from Analog Worship if you're lucky.

Captive - Demo

Captive - Demo

New demo from Austin based post punk band Captive. Members of bands such as Women In Prison and Total Abuse (OMG). If you like post things then you'll love this. Gets a little choppy in the first song at one point, it goes away quickly. There are probably only a few of these left from Calico Grounds so don't miss out. CG is a great label, apparently my original order of this and the new Tollund Men got lost in the mail and he replaced them, so thank you for that.

Oaken Tower

Oaken Tower - Rehersal I // Marching Thorns

After I posted the previous Beyond The Ruins release on here someone requested Oaken Tower and I never got sent the tapes from Exquisite Morbidity. Beyond The Ruins saw this comment and emailed me offering me copies of both releases. Seriously, what a great guy, thank you. He just put up some new releases on http://beyondtheruins.bigcartel.com/ don't miss out!

I finally got to hear these releases! Very raw and straight forward black metal. I love the intro on Rehearsal I and the noise track on Marching Thorns, very nice touches. I'm glad to finally document these releases and share them with you guys since the whole thing with Exquisite Morbidity and such really hindered people from being turned onto this project. Hopefully this makes up for it. Like I said, please support Beyond The Ruins, if you enjoy this blog then you'll obviously love everything he puts out.

The Rita - Dark Angled Eyebrow

The Rita - Dark Angled Eyebrow

New 7" from the HNW king. Two 5 minute tracks. The 2nd track sounds like you're dying. No further explanation needed.

Contingent - Demo

Contingent - Demo
self released

I picked this up at the recent Boston Strangler/Rival Mob/Peacebreakers gig. New Boston band band featuring members of possibly Who Killed Spikey Jacket and Bloodkrow Butcher? Maybe, I honestly don't really know for sure, just know it's featuring a bunch of Boston bands you like. This is pretty cool though, not like the stuff I usually upload but I just wanted to remind everyone that Boston has all the best bands. This sounds like UK 82 and Blitz, that's all I can really muster up to say about it.

Bizarre Uproar ‎– Putrid Live Activities 2011-2012

Bizarre Uproar ‎– Putrid Live Activities 2011-2012

I wasn't going to post this but seeing Metallic Imagery post a boxset from the Rita encouraged me to do so. He posts pretty noisy things and actually is pretty eloquent in writing, unlike me.

You should be familiar with Bizarre Uproar, but I just want to remind everyone how much of the real deal this project is. It was deleted (I believe) but Mr. BU used to run a tumblr called Puudeli where he posted photos/video and such from domination sessions with his partner Fallen Angel. Truly fucked up shit. Everything portrayed BU is actually into; true filth. BU started Filth & Violence because of that reason. This is a recent music video of his, for newcomers http://just.eroprofile.com/play/Yti3h2eYUy8g3ir

Anyways, this release is 8 sets. Some live shows, some rehearsals. Very comprehensive, true fans only. Sound quality is pretty great for live sets. I wouldn't start here if you're just getting into Bizarre Uproar, maybe try Rape Africa and read some background information about BU. I got this from Purple Blossoms who distributes all F&V releases in the US and is a very nice guy.

Pleasure Island / Scant split

Pleasure Island / Scant split

I don't know anything about the artists on this or even the label besides he put out Oaken Tower and that was pretty cool. This is also a first for me because I emailed the person who runs the label and asked him if it was okay to post this. Anyways, both sides of this split are fantastic. Pleasure Island's side builds up to a full wall of sound and Scant's side keeps it dark ambient. Honestly I wasn't expecting much when I ordered this but I'm very glad I did. Both of these artists are ones to watch, and this label! This is now sold out but be sure to keep an eye out for future releases and order the ones he already has, one is only $3.

Circle Of Ouroborus - The Final Egg

Circle Of Ouroborus - The Final Egg

I haven't really given this one a proper listen yet (I'm listening as I write this, I ripped this while someone was sleeping on my couch), so realize my opinion on this will probably change shortly, but I'm busy for the next few days and wanted to post this tonight. Anyways, if you didn't know I'm a huge fan of Circle Of Ouroborus. They release a ton of music that is all pretty great, but when they hit they really hit. This sounds like the sort of stuff they've been doing with Eleven Fingers and Abrahadabra, but I don't think it's as strong as those releases. Both of those records had to grow on me though. And don't think this is throwaway material too, this is a really solid album. This is still widely available so pick it up before it's too late!

Serpent Crest ‎– And Whose Ashes Still Glow

Serpent Crest ‎– And Whose Ashes Still Glow
Yoke Of Christ

Dom originally put these up on Hospital as an incentive to buy older, overpriced cds that never sold. I think he was asking like $50 for a bunch of shit like cds and these tapes. I love Hospital, I buy everything, and obviously I love Yoke Of Christ, but that was shitty so I held off on buying these. Finally the time came recently that I found both of these at a reasonable price. I started listening/recording the other tape that came with this one and the audio cuts out at one point, does this happen to anyone else with that release? Let me know. I liked this release more than the other one anyways. The highlight of this for me is the opening 6 minute melodic track. Yoke Of Christ and melodic seem like opposites but it works really well on this release. Don't worry though, this is still as raw as ever.

Sutekh Hexen ‎– Moments Within The Current

Sutekh Hexen ‎– Moments Within The Current

The drama surrounding this band would be enough to forget about them, but I'm a fan (I even thought Behind The Throne was brilliant). Basically one member of Sutekh Hexen left after he thought they ran their course but another member kept the band going. Recently the newer Sutekh Hexen posts a "new" song on soundcloud. The old member then posts a song with the same length and very similar waveform stating that the new SH track is just them playing over this track, which SH then agrees to. Apparently the old member wants SH to stop using his material and repressing older stuff too but SH doesn't care. WANDS was quick to retort with releasing 4 tracks from that same session that the old member did under the same Sutekh Hexen name, so I guess this might not be an official SH release. Very silly, but at the very least we get new sounds. Starts out dark ambienty and progresses to noise. Fans of the band will enjoy. If you haven't gotten into this band I strongly suggest checking out the first 3 cassettes.

Filth Coalition ‎– Satisfaction & Violence

Filth Coalition ‎– Satisfaction & Violence

A short 5 minute blast of LA punk. I had their original demo on Kolony but the audio on the tape was fucked up, oh well. It's difficult to write about like 5 minutes of music, but this is pretty good. Apparently they have a forthcoming tape on Music For Downers.

Torture Chain - Mutilating Astral Entities

Torture Chain - Mutilating Astral Entities

This was one of the only things I picked up at Chaos In Tejas surprisingly, and by accident too. My friend wanted me to buy a Battle Ruins tape and then I saw that at one time Brendan had these tapes for sale, but instead apparently I grabbed the last one of these. Good thing too because I enjoy Torture Chain's previous releases.

If you liked other Torture Chain stuff then you'll like this. It's in the same kind of traditional black metal sense. This is a much longer play though, I think it's around an hour long. I don't think this was a Chaos In Tejas exclusive because the Y-Pestis logo is on the tapes with a cat number, so there will more than likely be a widespread release of this at some point. I have no idea though, don't quote me.

EDIT: Now available from http://yersiniapestis.bigcartel.com/ Act fast

Satanize / Vetala ‎– Extinction Victory / Decimating The Lambs

Satanize / Vetala ‎– Extinction Victory / Decimating The Lambs

Probably my favorite Cocanacopia finally gets a proper vinyl release from Portugal based label Discipline. Satanize and Vetala are both Portuguese black metal bands that have been doing great things for several years now. Satanize plays a blazing fast black metal which is pretty good, I am much more about the Vetala side though. I think Vetala is one of the better bands in black metal today and this is a prime example of why. Sloppy and extremely harsh. If you don't know Vetala I strongly suggest checking out their other releases.

Discipline as a label is doing awesome things and I suggest picking at least something from them up. I got this from Tour De Garde and I'm sure he still has copies along with other Discipline titles. Even Canada shipping still sucks though.

Astral Command ‎– Black Hammer Of Time Travel

Astral Command ‎– Black Hammer Of Time Travel
Yoke Of Christ

As long as I posted the previous Yoke Of Christ release on here I thought I might as well put this one up. This one is not like Roman Cross and Cyclone SS but very death metaly, still played in the same Yoke Of Christ vein as those projects though. Essential time travel music.

Wulkanaz ‎– Paúrpura Fræovíbôkôs

Wulkanaz ‎– Paúrpura Fræovíbôkôs

The newest LP from the one man modern black metal project Wulkanaz. First off, this record sounds like shit, not in a good way. Usually I don't do anything (or very minor things) to the rips I post but I actually did a few things to this to make it sound a little better in my opinion. There are defects in the vinyl too, like some parts the sound "choppy"? I can assure you the record was pressed that way.

Regardless of all that I do still like the record. It isn't as straight forward as HNI - a little all over the place, but fans will enjoy. The packaging on this record is amazing as well, as with all Wulkanaz releases. The booklet of art is a very nice touch. I was apprehensive buying this at $23 but the packaging is definitely worth that.

Carved Cross / Cave Ritual split

Carved Cross / Cave Ritual split
self released

Since I am on lock down today I figured I'd post this. I was actually right near MIT last night seeing Culo when all this went down, I wasn't aware of it though.

ANYWAYS, I got this the other day from Crippled Sound with a bunch of other awesome things. This is a split between Australia's Carved Cross and I don't know anything about Cave Ritual other than I didn't buy their release on Dungeon Tapes. The Carved Cross side is extremely raw and in the vein of their demos. If you liked those demos then you will like this. Cave Ritual is not as raw and sounds a little doom-like. Solid material from both bands.

The Rita ‎– Womankind 2: Cleopatra, Sacred Servants

The Rita ‎– Womankind 2: Cleopatra, Sacred Servants

The king of HNW returns. I always feel that describing HNW releases is cheesy. It's noisey, okay? Both tracks are very thick and distorted. I got this direct from the source, he might still have copies left!

Confess - Confess

Confess - s/t

Easily one of my favorite releases on Fallow Field, and you know how much I like Fallow Field. Very noisey black metal. 14 minutes of dense noise and feedback. Very dark and haunting. Fallow Field continues to set the bar very high.

Serpent Seed - Serpent Seed

Serpent Seed - s/t

You're already going to download this so I'll make this brief. This is some of that raw black metal that we've all grown to love from Fallow Field. Side A is more in the "blistering" and "stomping" vein and side B is noise. A very solid release.

Cyclone SS - Awakening The Zyklon Titan

Cyclone SS - Awakening The Zyklon Titan

To be honest I never had any intention of posting this on here. This is not for everyone, I can't stress that enough. Listen at your discretion, you've been warned. Roughly 90 minutes of very raw and very sloppy black metal. Yoke Of Christ, while being extremely mysterious and having their releases be very difficult to pick up, never puts out anything bad; I am very fond of Roman Cross. I was on the fence about posting this ever since I got it because, well when you listen to it you'll figure it out, but I've listened to this a few times this week and thought it was time to share. Nothing is sacred, right?

Vast Glory ‎– Airequipt Circular Magazine

Vast Glory ‎– Airequipt Circular Magazine

I was listening to the Vast Glory release on Lake Shark Harsh Noise today and realized that I had never uploaded this so here you go. 80 minutes of heavy electronics/HNW. Highly recommended.

Croatian Amor ‎– Vagina Sword

Croatian Amor ‎– Vagina Sword

Picked this up second hand recently for at cost, possibly cheaper (thanks Ryyk). For some reason I had the chance to buy this directly from the label but I didn't, I must have been in a bad mood or something. Synth based noise out of Denmark. Croatian Amor is one of my favorite acts on the monster that is Posh Isolation. A very solid release clocking in at around 22 minutes, definitely a great place to start with the label if you aren't familiar.

Kolony mega post

ASHtoDust // Held Down // Rub El Hizb

ASHtoDUST

Very noisy and heavy hardcore. Coming from releases on Fallow Field and Video Disease this is definitely still as crushing.

Held Down - Gagged & Bound

Promising raw hardcore release. I think this is my favorite release from this batch.

Rub El Hizb

One track of low end heavy, raw, noise, etc. I know nothing about this band. Apparently the title is the rub el hizb symbol in text format but when I try to post it on here it messes up this post. I just called it s/t.

Cadaver Dog - Rehearsal 8.12.12

Cadaver Dog - Rehearsal 8.12.12
self released

I feel hard pressed to write anything about the last 2 posts I've done because clocking in at under 4 minutes this is a literal fart upon the music world; not really meant to be spoken about at length. But if these tracks are an indicator of future releases then I am on board on both of these rehearsals. While this is definitely very short I am definitely a fan. I can't wait to hear the next full output from both of these bands.

Civilized - Rehearsal 8.26.12

Civilized - Rehearsal 8.26.12
self released

This is like a total of 4 minutes of music so I will keep it short. What a 4 minutes this is though, damn. A rough hardcore release. STRAIGHT EDGE. I wish this was actually the artwork, though I like the art it came with. Probably the best music release I got from YA this time around. Call me a fan.

Already Dead - "I Want To Watch You Rot"

Already Dead - "I Want To Watch You Rot"
self released

My coveted Youth Attack package came in the mail yesterday! How does that work? Wasn't yesterday a mail holiday? That's sketchy. The post office sucks by my house, they lost a Cold Cave test press with delivery confirmation on it a few weeks ago. Once I move again I'm getting a PO box. I guess I should talk about this tape now. 2 very grim and decomposed tracks. It sounds exactly like the title and the names of the tracks. I don't have a lot to say about this.

Deathstench ‎– N.O.X

Deathstench ‎– N.O.X

One of the latest releases from NL based label Zeitgeists. Side A is heavy blackened noise and side b is more dark ambient. Does that fall under the reign of blackened noise? If you like blackened noise this is a very solid release. Regardless, all Zeitgeists releases have a very distinct feel to them. It could be the elaborate packaging (I seriously don't think I can fold this release back up how it was originally), it could be the price, it could be how difficult it is to pick any release up second hand, but this is one of the finest labels "in the game." I ordered this direct from the label and it came out to $15 shipped. Zeitgeists have several new releases up, each limited to 50 (I believe), I strongly urge you to pick up at least one of them. Like I said, they will be extremely hard to find once they aren't available from the label anymore.

Filth - Beyond The Five Senses

Filth - Beyond The Five Senses

Very heavy and weird industrial-esque power electronics. "Destructive" comes to mind when trying to describe this. "Play at maximum volume" the insert reads. Fusty Cunt as a label always delivers but this was the only tape I bought from this batch. Looking back I should have just bought them all (as should you) but I got a couple of larger things from my wantlist recently so I calmed down slightly with my tape buying in December/January. But don't fear, I still have a disposable income!

Carved Cross - Demo I & Demo II

Carved Cross - Demo I // Demo II
self released // Fallow Field

I wasn't sure if Demo I has been around and I got Demo II from Fallow Field today so I thought I might as well megapost it. Very, very raw black metal by means of Australia. I don't know how I feel about these releases. I don't want to throw around blanket terms but this seems generic; not a lot stands out. Both of these tapes are dark; the music, the recordings, the artwork. I've always thought of Australia to be a sunny place but not according to these releases.

Natural Assembly - Torn From Infinity

Natural Assembly - Torn From Infinity

I am a big fan of Strange Rules. A couple weeks ago I asked a friend of mine what he thought of the label and he called them trend hoppers and that rubbed me in the wrong way (sorry to call you out friend of mine). As long as you make good music you could make electro bangers as a full time thing and I wouldn't care. Anyways, this is a solid 10 minute 7" from Strange Rules's Natural Assembly. It's that whole synth-pop, darkwave, early Cold Cave (but not as catchy), dancing thing. If any of those words sound appealing you should be into this.

Profectum Iri / Niteris ‎– Collusion Of Slumbering Evil

Profectum Iri / Niteris ‎– Collusion Of Slumbering Evil

One of the latest offerings from the Black Plague Circle on Cocainacopia 2.0, Dungeon Tapes. Profectum Iri brings us a 12 minute noisey as all hell track while Niteris plays a more stomping punk influenced sound. This comes in an oversized case with a booklet of very intricate art. Anything that comes out on Cocainacopia and now Dungeon Tapes is a must buy and this is no different.

Kallathon / Volahn ‎– Disequilibrium Of The Ecliptic Plane

Kallathon / Volahn ‎– Disequilibrium Of The Ecliptic Plane

Yeah, I already uploaded this around a year ago. The reason for uploading this again is that I recently got the first pressing that CN just put up for sale recently in the mail, yes I actually received it, and to my surprise its a professionally pressed release! It sounds completely different and once you hear this you will be offended you even tried listening to the other inferior version. You can order this from CN directly and I strongly encourage it - don't worry, they've gotten a lot better at mail order. They still owe me ~$50 of merch from a few years ago but this came very quickly.

Wulkanaz ‎– HaglaNaudizEisaz

Wulkanaz ‎– HaglaNaudizEisaz

HOLY FUCK. I should just leave it at that and you should be checking this out regardless but I will go on. Very strong, straight forward black metal. "Mandatory". I missed purchasing this the first time around, opted out to "order it in the morning" and was sold out by then, now I understand why. Luckily the new Cocainacopia, Dungeon Tapes, was selling these nearly at cost. I forget where I read this but I believe Wohrt is repressing this. You better pray that the packaging isn't changed.
